Temple University’s Africology and African American Studies Department partners with Powerful Mindz Inc. and Slap Box Productions to produce a storytelling initiative that uses animation and digital media to explore radical histories of resistance and resilience. This partnership centers a historical timeline of revolutionary movements and individual advocates—from anti-colonial liberation struggles to grassroots resistance against the American education system’s systemic erasure of African knowledge. The anime project highlights key figures and collective actions that shaped Black liberation thought, while also uplifting culturally positive practices, spiritual systems, and community-based solutions rooted in African traditions. The goal is to educate, inspire, and reclaim narratives through an Afrocentric lens for youth and broader audiences.
